THE KOSBE SYSTEM - FAQs:
Q:
The advert refers to an out-of-print and superceded booklet of a similar name published in 1995. What book is this referring
to?
A: The KOSBE System was first published in 1995 as a 15-page booklet, published by
Paradigm Press.
Q: Why is the 1995 edition
superceded?
A: The KOSBE System was written when I was 25 and was my first attempt at
writing about improvisational magic. Many years have passed since then and I have now totally rewritten the book, greatly
expanding it in the process and eliminating extraneous and potentially misleading material. The bare bones of the book
is the same but the new version is bigger and better.
Q: Can people who purchased the original
book in the Nineties obtain a discount off the new version?
A: Yes - they need to email me and
tell me the name of the distribution company as printed in the front of the book. I will then offer them a small discount
off the new book.
Q: How does this book differ
from Secrets of Improvisational Magic?
A: Secrets is an analysis of the many
different forms and elements of improvisational magic: Interactive Magic, Key Concepts, Improv, Jazz Magic, Miracle Effects,
Mishaps, Challenges, The Trick That Cannot Be Explained, and various related concepts such as Outs and Equivoque. The
KOSBE System is a very different book. It explains the basic thought processes of how magic (particularly close-up
card magic) is improvised, and addresses the basic questions of how a neophyte improviser may actually start the whole process
of learning how to improvise.
Q: Is any information duplicated in the books?
A:
There is a small amount of duplication - one or two paragraphs may 'sound familiar' if you have read the other book
- but overall the information and style of the two books is quite different.
Q: Can I have
a discount if I purchase Secrets and KOSBE together?
A: When I started selling
books I decided that, instead of selling them at a high price and then offering discounts, it was fairer to sell the books
at a lower price with no discounts. I could easily charge, say, £15-£20 for each book, but instead am offering
them at much lower prices.
